Based in Dingwall near Inverness, we work closely with clients across the renewables, construction, and infrastructure sectors to ensure sustainable and environmentally responsible development.

With Scotland's renewables sector booming, we are looking to expand our dedicated and close-knit team of ecological professionals. If you have a passion for ecology, environmental compliance, and working in some of the most stunning landscapes in the UK, we would love to hear from you.

The Role

As an Ecologist & Environmental Clerk of Works (EnvCoW), you will play a vital role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices on a range of exciting projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering Toolbox Talks to site operatives on key ecological and environmental topics.
  • Providing practical guidance to clients on meeting their ecological and environmental obligations.
  • Carrying out protected species surveys, habitat assessments, and pre-works walkover surveys.
  • Producing high-quality ecological reports and species protection plans to support planning and licensing requirements.
  • Liaising with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver practical, professional advice.

This role would full time Monday – Friday, with part time position considered for experienced candidates.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • A relevant Environmental or Ecology BSc (Hons) degree.
  • A full, valid driving licence and willingness to travel/work away from home when required (overnight accommodation provided where necessary).
  • Experience conducting ecological surveys.
  • Ability to work independently (with team support) in remote locations.
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours when necessary (e.g., bat surveys, nightshift work).
  • A personable and professional approach, with strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • A good sense of humour.

Desirable:

  • 5+ years of experience in the ecology/environmental sector, including demonstrable EnvCoW experience.
  • Protected Species Licences (bat, badger, Schedule 1 birds, otter, freshwater pearl mussel, etc.).
  • CSCS Card.
  • Tree climbing qualifications.

Why Join Us?

  • Annual tax-free bonus up to £3,600.
  • Highlife Leisure Membership, providing access to leisure centres across Scotland (family membership also available).
  • Opportunities for Continued Professional Development.
